When you think about a travel theme wedding what do you think about? Do you think about the many places you’ve traveled? Louise and Nigel have a passion for traveling so they only felt right to go with this theme. They wanted to incorporate a bit of vintage and a lot of DIY. After countless hours of Photoshop, flea market shopping, and gathering supplies from Michael’s, they designed and styled almost everything that was seen at the wedding.
Louise and Nigel are high school sweethearts! Just like Danny and I! So capturing their wedding was a little extra special for us. They met during their high school years at a friend’s Superbowl party in 2004. They exchanged information and later went on a date on Valentine’s Day to watch the movie, 50 First Dates. After almost 10 years of dating and growing up together, Nigel decided to POP the question at Central Park on a sweet boat ride.
After visiting many venues they decided to have their wedding at The Liberty House in Jersey City. They had the PERFECT weather and the whole day was breath-taking from beginning to end. They had a Catholic ceremony at the venue with a clear view of the New York skyline. To make their ceremony special, they decided to splurge on a string quartet. Louise knew from the moment she started wedding planning that she wanted the string quartet to play Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s “Over the Rainbow/What A Wonderful World” from 50 First Dates as a tribute to their first date. They also had a few special design details such as parody airplane safety cards and handmade chalkboard sign, but their favorite had to be the trunk table she envisioned and was put together by her father. Louise’s favorite table piece was her sweetheart table. The initials had maps from where both her and Nigel’s parents came from and the ampersand had their honeymoon destination. The table also had a special ode to Harry Potter with one of the books placed on the suitcase and a reference to Hogwarts on a luggage tag Nigel handcrafted for her! When I tell you every detail was amazing, I mean it! Danny and I had a blast photographing their wedding we hope you see that in the images below.
